Best trail
conditions of the year!
[ Please send your report to us! ]
Yesterday we took off from Devil
Track Lake, bright sunshine, cold, it was about 5 or so
degrees. Gloves were not optional today... We decided to take the
trail south from Devil Track Resort to the G trail to the Expressway.
Stop at the Shelter on Pike Lake and onto the lake surface looking for
drifts or powder piled up on one of the shores. Not quite deep enough
to play in. Trail conditions were really nice, it was like a highway
to the Lutsen Access Trail and down to the Lutsen Ski Hill via the
Mountain Access Trail. The Mountain Access Trail was rough.
State Trail was groomed
after our storm Wednesday and there wasn't much traffic on it before
us, maybe 4 sleds used it since grooming.
Shelter on Pike Lake
off of the North Shore State Snowmobile Trail
Very scenic route crosses
river and trail travels along highlands above Lake Superior.
Trees were flocked with
snow from storm that dropped about 8-10 inches of snow Tuesday night.
We had lunch at Papa Charlie's on the Lutsen Mountains Ski Hill and
headed back to Devil Track Lake. This is a good day trip and a great
place to have lunch, about 30 miles one way from Devil Track Lake.
