More Fun in the Powder...
but now with a 2 inch paddle track
We
launched from the
Devil Track Lake / Old Cook County Runway
Access area. Bright sunshine, windy, about 12 above, we searched
for some virgin powder away from the hard pack from other Sledders and
the hard windblown drifts. We found some back bays near the south
shore where the snow was piling up. It was my first run with the
2 inch paddle track we installed this
week... what a difference... the hook-up was incredible, riding
wheelies was effortless. We tried to take as many pics as we could,
which proved difficult because of the speed, flying snow and frozen
fingers from the wind that was blowing a 20 below windchill!
Crotch deep powder on
Devil Track Lake
We dreaded getting off
our sleds because we'd sink in the deep powder.
The snow was
multi-layered in some places with 18 inches on top of a thin hard layer and
another foot or so of corn snow under it.
We played as long as we
could... after a few hours we were soaked and our goggles would not
stop fogging from our sweat saturated face masks and helmets.
One last run in the
powder before heading back east to the parking area and some brews @
"The Landing" at Devil Track Resort.
